Fizzicals - Mind the Gap
How do we bridge the gap between ourselves and others, across language, culture and the great divide of socially distanced space?
Our three primary clad visitors from elsewhere are here to say hello whilst exploring! Through gesture, mimicry, repetition, unusual body movement and humour, they seek to communicate with us in any way they can!
The Fizzicals are a highly visual walkabout bunch, who play with social distancing and ways of communicating without language. Ever so slowly they explore the landscape and its inhabitants, often times slowing to such a pace as to be sculptural. They aren’t timid though, how could anything so brightly-clad ever be afraid of attention!
Oblivious to conventional means of communication, the Fizzicals are tentatively trying to find ways to connect with us in any way. Their brightly coloured bodies lure in the public, their gentle choreography attracting attention before the tables are turned and suddenly the spectator’s actions become the star of the show.
How would you make friends without the use of language? Think of some actions you can come up with that our Fizzicals won't be able to resist copying! Try and keep up with their strange movements yourself and hopefully, just hopefully, we can form a new connection!
Our daring Fizzical explorers aren’t feart of any space: high streets, parks and squares - anywhere where people may be found, from the most serene plaza to huge event spaces thronging with life to explore. Roaming as they do, they will find an inquisitive public wherever can be found. Clumping together at times and spreading out one by one to the extremities, their communal shape shifts and re-forms. Watch each Fizzical’s personality shine through in their individual choreographies, but notice what a social bunch they are when they come together as one.
